Bangalore. January 11, 2012. Salma Shazia Fathima, a business woman from Bangalore became first runner up master chef in the reality food show Master Chef India-Season II. She gained the second position by surpassing the other 48 contestants from all over India in various levels. Out of 12000 applicants 200 were shortlisted in Delhi and 100 in Mumbai, and finally only 50 contestants were given a chance to compete in this national reality food show of India. Articulate and confident, 34 year old Shazia, daughter in law of K. Rahman Khan, Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, is a home maker and actively involved in her husband Maqsood Ali Khan’s business. He is the secretary for Delhi Public School in Bangalore and Shazia manages the administration, and also provides education for under privileged kids.
Passionate about food, cooking for her is a peaceful experience and that’s why she really enjoys it. Since she got married, she has been cooking and has learnt most of it from her mother-in-law. Shazia hasn’t had any training but read books, and watched cookery shows to develop her culinary skills. “I love cooking so much that I even dream about recipes,” she grins. She is a confident woman, who knows what she wants and makes no compromises on her way to achieve her dream. A progressive, talented Muslim woman, Shazia has the support of her entire family for being on Master Chef. “With the background that I come from, it is a big deal to be on a TV show and I have to say my family has been with me 100% which is why I am here today.”
According to her she performs well under pressure. She claims to smile through all situations. She intends to teach cooking to under-privileged women in rural Karnataka. She received a huge welcome bash at the Bangalore airport. All her family members, friends, neighbors and fans were present at the Bangalore airport to welcome the master chef Shazia Khan.
