Gulbarga, June 03, 2011. The Gulbarga edition of Bangalore based Urdu daily Salar was launched here on June 1. Releasing the first copy, Mr. Syed Shah Khusroo Hussaini, Sajjada Nasheen of Dargah-e-Hazrath Khwaja Bande Nawaz extended “best wishes for the success of newspaper.” Mr. Shafiulla, trustee of Salar Publications was also present. Rich tributes were paid to late Ibrahim Khaleelulla Khan, and late Mir Maqsood Ali Khan, the community leaders who built the Salar as a successful daily.
Speaking with the karnatakamuslims.com, a few Urdu readers from Bidar and Gulbarga welcomed the new edition saying, “We expect that it will help Urdu readers to know more about the Karnataka politics and about our community development. If it does not happen, you know that people of this area (Hyderabad-Karnatak) are more attached with Hyderabad. A number of good Urdu dailies are published from there which give more coverage to our area.”
A few readers were “not ready to expect something good overnight from Salar daily”. They complained, “More space is provided in Salar to Al-Ameen group and its related institutions. Moreover not only news about institutions, but a selected small group of people connected with Al-Ameen and related institutions are given prime place in Salar”. Readers of the Hyderabad Karnataka region expect that Salar should become voice of the Urdu speaking population of Karnataka. The first copy of Gulbarga edition was well received by the readers.
