RAICHUR. Oct. 25, 2011. After the All India Mushaira held in Raichur by Mr Zafer Mohiuddin in September, the event became quite a talk of the town. Urdu being part of the culture of Raichur, the event has left an impression on the minds of the people of the city.
To keep up the trend that was started by Mr Zafer Mohiuddin, even after a month later though the magical evening of Mushaira still lingers in the memory the Raichurians, another evening of ghazals and singing was organised by Mohammed Ghani, Aqeel Yaavar Ansari and Irfan Ahmed Irfan in the city to felicitate Mr Zafer Mohiudin for his successful conducting of a magnificent poetic evening in the history of Raichur. Mr Syed Yasin, MLA, Raichur and Mr Mahateesh Patil, working president JD(S) also addressed the gathering.
The evening of Ghazal saw Ustad Hari Krishan Pahwa of Bangalore, Zubair Shaikh Ansari from Gulbarga and Aqeel Yaavar Ansari of Raichur winning over hearts of Raichurians with their mesmerising voice. Here are some interesting reactions of people:
Khaleel, an auto consultant says, “This was the biggest event that I had ever witnessed. The poets were outstanding, especially Manzar Bhopali and Rajesh Reddy were good.”
Mohammed Kaleem, Advocate: “It was a long time since Raichur has seen such a grand Mushaira. Last it was in 1970 where more than 2000 people had attended.”
Anwar Khan: There is no doubt that Mushaira was excellent. But I was disappointed that huge money was spent on Mushaira. There are better ways of reviving Urdu, one can spend on a noble work like getting poor children education, be it Urdu itself.”
Siddappa, Engineer: It was really a beautiful event. From state to state and region to region the dialect of the same language differs. It was nice to see all come together on one stage. I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Sagar, Gulbarga: “I came all the way from Gulbarga to attend Mushaira. Coming from so far was worth it”.
