Bangalore: The Center for South Asian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, U.S.A. has invited applications for a full-time Urdu lecturer.
Initially, the appointment will be for a year with the possibility of renewing it later. The appointment will begin on January 7, 2011.
The appointee should be able to contribute to the long-term quality, stability and development of the Urdu programme at Berkeley at all levels.
Applicants must have native or near-native fluency in Urdu. Candidates with proven experience in teaching Urdu as a foreign language will be preferred. Besides, they should possess proven creativity and instructional success in the design and delivery of courses especially at the primary and intermediate levels of instruction.
An M.A. or a Ph.D. degree in the appropriate field is desired, but not necessary. The salary will be commensurate with teaching experience.
