Davangere. March 27, 2012. The state government’s decision to change the syllabus of V to X standard classes is actually an attempt to saffronise the education and keep the flame of communal and caste politics burning. It causes the division in society and a wide gulf between different groups, said the leaders of Komu Souharda Vedike here on March 24. A protest demonstration in this regard was held before the Deputy Commissioner’s office after a long march in procession. Addressing the public rally the Vedike leader Chandra Shekar accused the BJP of creating enmity among different religious groups under one pretext or the other. The national leaders who struggled to gain independence had dreamt of a democratic and non-religious system of education, the state government has brushed aside this. Great national heroes like Tippu Sultan and Hyder Ali are mentioned in bad light in the books who had sacrificed their lives and even mortgaged their children for the sake of the country. But the Vedike wil not allow it happen. Mr.Syed Saifulla president of Tanzeemul Muslimeen said ever since the communal party has come to power in the state a vicious atmosphere is being created at various levels and demonising the real patriots in the syllabus merely because they belonged to a different community is a small example to quote. We all should fight together to protect the tender minds from being poisoned he said. A memorandum was presented to the Deputy Commissioner demanding withdrawal of the books. Former state minister B.T. Laita Naik, and many other leaders also spoke.
