Bidar: May 16, 2011. “A better society can be established through media. Today, our life is almost entirely dependent on Media; it has become an inseparable part of life as a vehicle of mass communication,” said Mr. Syed Tanveer Ahmed, Editor of the News Portal karnatakamuslims.com and Director of BookWare, Bangalore. He was delivering a lecture on “Urdu Journalism, Importance and Opportunities” here today.
Mr. Tanveer said, “Media is powerfully feeding the masses with their dose of Politics, Advertising, Business, cultural and everything related to life.”
He added, “Media has two main wings of print and electronic communication. Electronic media includes, TV, Internet, social networking etc. The other media is Film, Drama, Art, and Painting. Media plays very vital role whether in war or in peace, in all the spheres of life. It also is a powerful tool used for meeting and messaging to advertising and marketing. It shapes the opinions of the masses and tilts fortunes in public elections. In short media can propagate anything, establish a truth, prove a point right or wrong.”
About the opportunities in the media Mr. Tanveer said, “Media is emerging as the biggest industry. Apart from print and electronic media there are opportunities galore in Internet medium. There is a growing scope for media persons in big business houses and industries as Public relations officers, Editors, Writers, Reporters, Translators, Interpreters, and Designers. Special skills such as reading, professional practice, keeping oneself abreast of current affairs, and above all vision are necessary for success in this profession. Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MAANU) conducts ‘Masters in Communication and Journalism’ and ‘M.A. in Translation’ both courses are in Urdu Medium, of two years duration, and are recognized by the government. Different scholarships are also provided.”
Mr. Abdul Khadeer, Secretary of Shaheen Institutions said,” Getting and using the information is becoming an essential part of our life today. On time availability of information has made every person a global citizen. Though the electronic media is growing fast, the importance of print media remains always.”
Upcoming journalist Mr. Ameen Nawaz said, “Employment opportunities in Urdu Journalism are growing. It is the specialty of Urdu that effective reporting can be done in a few words.” Ms. Aaliya Begum gave an introduction of MAANU courses. Mr. Samiullah Khan Baaz spoke about his experiences in journalism. Mr. Abdul Samad Bharti conducted the proceedings.
The programme “Urdu Journalism, Importance and Opportunities” was organized by MAANU Study Centre and Shaheen Institutions at Shaheen Education Centre.
