Karnataka Muslims Welcome Supreme Court Stay on Babri Masjid Case

Bangalore May 09, 2011. The Supreme Court (SC) today stayed the Allahabad High Court (HC) verdict on the Babri Masjid ‘Title Suit’ calling it “strange and unallowable order.”

Karnataka Muslims expressed happiness and hope on the SC stay considering it as the first step towards “Justice.”

Karnataka Muslim Muttahida Mahaz convenor, Mr. Masud Abdul Khadir says, “The Mahaz has always said that we have the highest regard for the Judiciary, hence, will accept the court verdict. The Allahabad High Court has not addressed our petition about the ‘Title Suit,’ but addressed other issues and we have not got justice. We welcome the Supreme Court stay and hope we will get justice. As said earlier, we will abide by the SC judgment.”

Muhammad Atharulla Shariff, Secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind-Karnataka says:
“The Supreme Court has restored the hope of Indians on Judiciary. It has raised our hope of getting justice. The SC remark on the Allahabad High Court verdict vacates the HC order. For strange reasons, the HC has not delivered the order on the parties’ plea but has offered advice, which is not called for and not acceptable. Now the judicial process towards the logical conclusion of the ‘Title Suit’ should begin. In this regard, we expect and pray for regular and speedier hearings by the apex court. There must be some mechanism to speedup the system so that justice could be delivered on a faster time frame.”

SC ORDER

While ordering stay on the Allahabad High Court verdict, the SC today observed:

“It is a rare judgment whose operation has to be stayed. It was a strange and surprising order that was not prayed for by any of the parties and cannot be allowed to remain.”
