Bangalore. Jan. 31, 2012. Azim Premji University, one of the two private varsities in Karnataka, has invited applications from working professionals, teachers, and fresh graduates for admission to its following postgraduate programmes for the 2012-14. The written test will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012 across the country.
- Master of Arts in Education (2 years): Develops outstanding education professionals for fulfilling careers as administrators, curriculum designers, entrepreneurs, technology experts, policy specialists, and researchers. Students will have the opportunity to focus on specific areas such as early childhood education, School leadership and management, etc, in the second year. Alternatively, students can pursue a balanced general programme as well.
- Master of Arts in Development (2 years): Builds deeper understanding of inter-related development domains to prepare high-caliber development professionals, field experts and social entrepreneurs.
Eligibility criterion for the above programmes is a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Candidates with work experience are encouraged to apply.
- Masters in Teacher Education (2 years): Develops highly competent professionals to address the acute shortage of quality teacher educators in the existing education system. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) is about to give final approve to this course.
Eligibility criterion: A masters degree in any discipline and a professional teaching certification ( B. Ed, D. Ed, B. El. M. Ed. or at least two years of teaching experience at schools.
Financial assistance and student support
Financial assistance through educational loans will be available for all students to cover full or part tuition and accommodation expenses. Also, scholarship may be provided to eligible students based on assessment of needs. Working professionals may be eligible for additional support schemes.
Student support systems include academic tutorials, language, communication and counselling. Student accommodation is provided as required.
Placement support will be provided to avail of career opportunities in the government, industry, NGOs, and multi-lateral agencies. Suitable students will be considered for employment at the Azim Premji Foundation on successful completion of the course.
